Devon and Cornwall Overseas Marketing

The Devon and Cornwall Overseas Marketing group (DACOM) is a consortia of a number of organisations. They are seeking to promote Devon and Cornwall in a number of European countries utilising a range of promotional tools. Of particular importance is their website www.cornwall-devon.com

DACOM commissioned TEAM to undertake an evaluation of the potential impact of this site and to gain insight into their consumers.

TEAM deployed the UNWTO Destination Web Watch standard online user survey. This has involved deployment of an on-line questionnaire – activated on a pop-up basis – for a two year period. The questionnaire is available in English, German, French and Dutch. The survey is taking place in two parts – the first is the online survey which looks at how consumers are using the site, how they found it, their satisfaction with it, and their likelihood of visiting Devon and Cornwall. The second part of the survey is “an invited survey” where people are asked to complete a follow-up survey. This looks at whether people have actually booked and the characteristics of their trip.

Preliminary findings from the survey indicate a high level of first time users of the DACOM website, satisfaction with the site, and that a high proportion of site users intended to visit Devon and Cornwall in the future.

The results have already been used to help to support the case for funding for the DACOM campaign.
